Good garden design relies on a well-balanced combination of flair, intuition, knowledge and experience on the part of the designer. Garden design is not simply a matter of choosing plants and arranging them on site. It is the culmination of a process that begins with the soil and the seasons and that involves everything from the construction of the garden to the way in which the client will use the space.

Your need as a person or family will determine the form your garden takes. These may be practical or they may be purely visual. However, the way in which the various elements of your garden are put together will have a radical effect on the final outcome. As the designer, I focus on creating a landscape design that will satisfy my client’s goals both aesthetically and functionally.

A successful garden design brings together hard and soft elements to create a harmonious effect. Everything in a garden must have a purpose, whether it is practical, such as a nicely detailed trellis screen to hide an air conditioner; artistic, such as a beautifully laid out rose garden; or even whimsical, like a stone frog sitting by a pond.

It is helpful if your garden can be designed as a complete package, even if you are not able to build the garden all in one go. This way over a period of time you can gradually add a pond, a pergola or perhaps the outdoor kitchen you fantasize, confident in the knowledge that the final effect is going to be successful and as you envisioned.  Ultimately the success of your garden will be measured by how satisfied you are with the final result. It would be my challenge and pleasure to help you achieve this goal.
